With an eye to the future, Detroit Diesel designed the DD15 from the block up with integrated features like a more powerful Jake Engine Brake®, an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system and Detroit Diesel's BlueTec Emissions Technology. The innovative design of the DD15 engine offers peak torque response, and the turbo compounding system that delivers up to 50 "bonus" horsepower so you burn less fuel and get more power, and even fully loaded, you feel yourself launching up the on‐ramps. The DD16 is made for extreme loads. Pulling huge loads up the hills is what the DD16 diesel engine was born to do. 16 liter displacement produces 600 horsepower, and its amazing torque curve pulls down to 1000 RPM, lettng you hang in top gear longer.
